The General Slocum Memorial Association is dedicated
to keeping alive the memory of the Slocum tragedy and
honoring its victims, survivors, and rescuers.
Every year, on the Saturday before June 15, the General
Slocum Memorial Association holds an ecumenical memorial
service at Trinity Luthern Church in Middle Village,
Queens and a wreath laying ceremony at the Slocum monument
in nearby All Faiths Cemetery where most of the Slocum
victims are buried. All are welcome to attend.
This year's (2004) event will take place on Saturday
June 12, 2004 beginning @ 10:00am.
1. 10:00 am service in the cemetery at the Slocum monument.
2. 11:15 am ecumenical service in Trinity Lutheran
Church.
3. Following the two ceremonies, there will be a buffet
luncheon at the church (there is no charge for the lunch,
but donations will be welcome).
