PHOENIX, AZ -Author Clive Cussler now has 20 best-selling
fiction and two non-fiction best-sellers to his credit,
following the December publication of his latest title,
The Sea Hunters II.
The book, published by G.P. Putnam's Sons, is a companion
to his first best-selling non-fiction title, The Sea
Hunters, and chronicles the true adventures of Cussler
and his NUMA team on their mission to find historically
significant shipwrecks. (That book also spawned an international
hit TV series of the same name.)
The Sea Hunters II tour included New York City, Ridgewood,
NJ, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Denver, CO and Scottsdale,
AZ.
An added element to the publication of THE SEA HUNTERS
II was a promotion between Dr. Cussler's publisher,
Putnam, and DOXA Watches of Switzerland to introduce
the Orange face DOXA SUB 300T SEAHUNTER Dive Watch signed
and authenticated by Clive Cussler. One lucky fan won
one of these signed and numbered watches, valued at
$1000 each.
Cussler's Dirk Pitt® books - including Valhalla
Rising, Sahara and Raise the Titanic! - have made him
the undisputed Grand Master of the action-adventure
novel. Like his action-adventure hero Pitt, Cussler
is fascinated by the sea and the secrets it holds. That's
why in 1979, whimsically taking the name of the fictitious
U.S. government agency that employs Dirk Pitt, Cussler
founded the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA).
This 501C3 non-profit organization dedicates itself
to preserving maritime and naval history. Cussler and
his crew of marine experts and NUMA volunteers have
discovered more than 60 historically significant underwater
wreck sites. After verifying their finds, they turn
the rights to the artifacts over to non-profits, universities
or government entities throughout the country and the
world.
Picking up where The Sea Hunters left off, The Sea
Hunters II takes readers along on NUMA's search for
the wrecks of the Mississippi steamboat New Orleans,
the ghost ship Mary Celeste, and the RMS Carpathia (which
came to the rescue of the Titanic's survivors), among
many others. Cussler also recounts the stories of these
vessels in his own fast-paced, page-turning style.
